BellaRiva Moscato Del Ré (2012)

Product & Vintage: 2012 BellaRiva Moscato del Ré

Region: Moyhu, King Valley.

Winestyle: The goal has been to make a 5.5% frizzante style (2.2-2.5g/L CO2) aromatic white wine, similar to Moscato d’Asti of Piedmont. The high sweetness level is hidden by the CO2 and the general texture and pungency of Moscato Giallo.

Varieties: Moscato Giallo.

Vineyard: Planted in 2010, the vineyard is placed on well drained red and brown loam with significant deposits of sandstone and shale.

Tasting Note: A serious white wine, slightly fizzy, super fragrant, drying acidity and at 5.5%

Vintage Conditions: In 2012 our first plantings of Moscato Giallo grapes were produced on this very picturesque family estate. This is a particularly pungent member of Muscat family and is grown mainly in the Trentino, Alto Adige and Friuli regions of Northern Italy. Super green/yellow looking fruit.

Winemaking: Hand picked, destemmed, must chilled and pressed cold. Juice settled for five days to optimise flavour. Fermented quite cool to retain the aromatics and freshness followed by ‘arresting’ the fermentation with snap cooling and SO2 at the required alcohol.

Wine Analysis: Alc 5.5%, pH 3.22, TA 5.9, RS 97g/L

Cellaring: Drinking fabulously in the short term.

Suggested Cuisine: Especially good with light starters and desserts.
