Appearance: Bright crimson with ruby hues.
Bouquet: A lifted nose of mulberry and rich dark fruits of the forest.
Palate: Syrah intensifies colour and marries well with flavours of the Dolcetto to create layers of a soft sweet wine, full of berry flavours and ripe red fruits. The fine tannin frame arrives to provide a clear direction and structure with a light spritz finish.
Suggested Cuisine: Chicken liver risotto, Gorgonzola gnocchi or a Thai green/red beef curry. Serve slightly chilled.
General Characteristics: Medium Sweet / Light Bodied
Vintage Conditions: 2014 saw good winter rains followed by a warm growing season, which led to good yields of fruit. A hot beginning to the harvest period accelerated the ripening with frantic harvesting ensuring to pick the fruit with the ideal flavour spectrum.
Winemaking: The Syrah fruit was selected to enhance the soft tannin and spice component of this wine and the Dolcetto “the little sweet one” supplements with an abundance of fruit flavours. The Shiraz and Dolcetto are co-fermented to ensure the flavours are in synergy. When the desired sugar level is reached fermentation is arrested to retain natural sweetness and primary fruit flavours.
Wine Analysis: Alc/Vol: 9.0 % pH: 3.25 TA: 6.29 g/L
Cellaring: Best enjoyed chilled whilst young and exhibiting the fresh summer berry fruits.
