The season in the Hunter Valley for 2009 -10 saw above average rainfall with plenty falling in the Spring months. This provided adequate sub soil moisture for the Spring and
Summer months. Good climatic comditions were experienced for the ripening and
picking period. The Vermentino was picked once optimal flavour ripeness was expressed for this particular vintage.
The fruit was hand picked ( from our Murphy’s Vineyard ) once desired maturity was reached. Once harvested. The fruit was transported to our winery for immeidiate pressing. The juice was roughly racked post cold settling to stainless steel. Fermentation was carried out by selected yeast strains, this helped retain freshness and aroma.
