Vinoque The Oval Vineyard Pinot Blanc (2016)

Qty Product Name Price

Pinot Blanc is a mutation of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris and its origins are believed to be France. It is also grown in Italy and Germany where it is called Pinot Bianco and Weissburgunder respectively.

It is more steely and mineral driven than Pinot Gris; the textbook characters being white flower, beeswax and green apple. It has a savouriness and dryness which are ideal for food matching.

The Oval Vineyard at Dixons Creek was planted in 2008 and was grafted to Pinot Blanc in 2011. The bunches are large, with a smattering of pink and green berries on the bunches. The fruit is quite fragrant when ripe.

The 2015 vintage was mild and dry producing fruit with gentle aromatics and purity. Savoury, fresh, briney and mouth watering with fruit flavours of white nectarine, citrus and almond. Screams out for some shellfish.
