The Hunter Valley
The Lower Hunter Valley nestles at the foothills of the Brokenback Range. The slopes are modest and soils vary from red duplex through to deep loam. The unique climate – sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean keep the valley relatively cool in an otherwise warm region – contributes to the uniqueness of its wines.
De Bortoli made its foray into the Hunter to make the distinctive Semillon and Shiraz styles for which the region is famous, wines with character, personality and longevity.
De Bortoli has 36 hectares under vine in the Hunter Valley including a mature vineyard with Semillon vines over 40 years old. A hands-on approach in the vineyard and hands-off approach in the winery reflects the family philosophy of allowing the fruit and the terroir to be fully expressed in every bottle of wine.
The De Bortoli Hunter Valley Cellar Door is open 7 days. Just a couple of hours from Sydney, the burgeoning Hunter Valley with its numerous attractions including galleries, restaurants, golf courses, health spas, wineries and major concerts and events is well worth a visit. Our Cellar Door staff will be happy to show you our award winning Hunter wines.
